Avalanche Continue To Sell Off

Big names mostly gone

With the departure of Duncan Keith and Scott Hartnell recently, there isn't alot left to be dumped off by the Avalanche. With them in the race for 5th overall in the lottery, the team has firmly set its focus on next year, and to be competitive. They have a ton of NHL bodies, many playing well, and an ever deepening prospect pool.

That being said, here's the names left who are on the block

Blake Wheeler - Not necessarily available. But as one of the best rated players in the sim. If a team came offering a 1st (or equivilant) the team would have to listen to the possibility. Though at this time, the Aves intend to hold him and resign him longterm in free agency.

Tuukka Rask - Despite the efforts of a few, Tuukka isn't going anywhere, cheaply at least. While there's been a few discussions on Tuukka for a top young star. They've thus far not been an agreement, and management is OK with that. With him going to rate as a top 3 goalie next year, and his salary going down to 4.75m next year (before climbing again in the summer of 2018), he will be counted on to lead the Avalanche to the playoffs next year. So unless you're coming with a 1, or top spec to start with, there is no discussion point.

Now those two are out of the discussion, others vets like Nick Leddy, Mattias Ekholm etc. are not being shopped, but are by no means untouchable. The following players are available for picks, and we could add cash to a deal to get things done, or upgrade a pick.

Available for a 3rd - Dennis Rasmussen, Jon Merrill, Dennis Seidenberg, Brendan Dillon

Available for a 4th - Dylan McIlrath

Available for a 5th - Dustin Brown

Available for a 6th - Michael Ferland

Available for a 7th - Jimmy Hayes, Cody McLeod, Ryan White, Victor Svedberg, Steven Kampfer, Chris Terry,
