Sabres prospects and players who will debut in BRHL next season.
With the Sabres 30 games into their season and on the outside of the playoffs looking in we will take a look at players and prospects who will make their BRHL debut next season either with the Americans or the Sabres to keep spirits high.
Alexander Radulov RW 6'1" 205lbs
Radulov signed with Montreal in the NHL in the off-season and sits on the Sabres euro list, so he will be eligible to play for the club next season. Through his first 29 games he's picked up 6 goals and 17 assists for 23 points with 22 PIM and is a +7. He's scoring at a higher pace this year, as his career PPG is 0.68 and he's currently going at a 0.79 clip. He should be a game breaker and will have every opportunity to succeed playing with Sindey Crosby.
Daniel O'Regan C/W 5'10" 176 lbs
Danny came out of the gates flying playing at over a PPG clip in the AHL. He was called up in late November but saw limited ice-time in his NHL debut and was sent back down the next day. He's definately on the Sharks radar and will get every opportunity to grab a roster spot next season in training camp. He currently has 7 goals, 17 assists, 0 PIM through 21 games and is a +7. Some of his biggest strengths are his versatility and high hockey IQ. He'll be with the Americans next season.
Ian McCoshen D 6'3" 218 lbs
Recently signed out of Boston College in the NCAA, McCoshen may not have the offensive upside scouts thought he possessed at the draft, but he's been fairly solid so far in his pro debut with the Panthers AHL affiliate in Springfield. Through 23 games he has 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points with 8 PIM and is a +1. The Sabres gave up a future 2nd round pick for Ian with the hopes that he will develop into a shutdown defender to complement a more offensive minded Dman. He will debut next season with the Americans.
Jack Roslovic C/RW 6'1" 183 lbs
He made his pro debut this year with the Moose in the AHL and while he has looked good, he has been lacking consistancy. He has 8 goals, 11 assists, 4PIM, and is a -5 through 25 games. He has been released by his AHL club to participate in the World Junior Championships and will be looked at as a leader on the US squad. He's another guy who will start next season with the Sabres affiliate Americans. He may even end up with top 6 minutes.
There are also a few players who may end up getting in the required games in to make their debuts next season but are not confirmed at this point. We will check back later in the year to confirm these:
Thomas Chabot D 6'2" 190 lbs
1 NHL game in this season. May finish the year in the AHL or NHL so he may hit the GP mark. Future 1st pairing D, very high potential.
Blake Speers C/RW 6'0" 180 lbs
He got 3 games under his belt this year and may be back in the AHL or NHL after his OHL season. Looks like a top 6 player at this point but needs to stay healthy.
Matt Spencer D 6'2" 205 lbs
Got 1 AHL game in last year and may end up getting a few more this year. Still has potential to be a #2 or #3 Dman, but needs to keep up his pace this year.
Dillon Fournier D 6'2" 185 lbs
Might join his brother with the BRHL Americans next year. Though he's constantly hurt. Really no more than a depth farm player at this point.
