Daily Recap

Sens    1

CBJ      4

This game featured a battle of the back-ups but as it turned out the battle was very one-sided. R. Miller outperformed P.Rinne in a game there was little to chose between as both teams had more then enough opportunities to score, yet one team did it much better! This game has been just another example of how close these teams are and at this point it will be a shame if it doesn't go 7 games. Game shots 32-31, game results 3-2, back to Ottawa for game 6 with Columbus looking to close it out.

Isles    2

Canes  5

In a game the Canes had to have they finally got a break from the beast that is A. Vasilevskiy and took full advantage of it. C. McElhinney lasted only until less then 1 minute into the second period before getting the hook having surrendered 4 goals on 10 shots and basically ending the Isles night. Vasilevskiy returned to the twine and played very well in relief stopping 19-20 shots but the game was already out of reach by that point and the performance was in vain. Also of note in this one is the 3 PP goals Carolina netted as its success will have a huge influence on whether or not they can rebound in this series and beyond. With game 6 on the horizon both clubs will have an interesting decision to make in goal as both #1 tenders will be less then 100% so does one or both roll the dice with their #1 or save them both for a potential game 7? Isles still up 3-2

Caps    2

Leafs   4

Lets be honest...we all thought GM Linke and his Caps would get broomed and if you didn't think that then you thought he'd maybe steal a game. Well, GM Linke and his Caps stole a game and despite falling out of the playoffs gave a good account of themselves. The Maple Leaf depth has been talked about numerous times so the only hope for Washington was to play perfect, and even that may not do! Washington did not or could not do that in this match-up and after surrendering 43 shots and 4 goals their season had ended! Congrats to the Caps for making it this far, and lets see what round 2 brings for the talented Leafs! Leafs win 4-1

Bruins    2

Habs     4

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I'd have to say this series is over! After falling behind 2 games to 0 at home and heading to Boston for Game 3 everyone in the BRHL was thinking GM Steve and his Habs were on the fast track to the golf course. Not so fast said the Habs and 3 straight wins later they are once again headed to Boston but this time with an opportunity to end it up 3 games to 2. If you are a Boston fan you are clinging to the win at home and anything can happen in game 7 frame of mind. If you are realistic you look at the state of the Boston crease and know this is done. The piss-poor rated Vlader will be at 99% for game 6 while #1 Rask will be at 98% while Montreal can counter with the 100% Binnington or 100% Hart. Assuming Boston rolls the dice with Rask for game 6 AND they manage a win then Rask likely won't be close to 100% for game 7. Any game that Vlader starts will be a huge advantage in goal for Montreal and to expect Rask to take both of those games at less then 100% is not very probable. This is a sim and anything can happen but the Bruins better protect the net if they hope to stick around! Back to Boston Habs up 3-2
