Playoff Daily Recap
Isles 3
CBJ 6
This game 6 wasn't supposed to go this way but GM Jesse and the home crowd are sure happy it did. Don't get me wrong, Columbus was at home up a game with the chance to close out the series but they were also forced to start their back-up tender for the first time these playoffs. With the Isles starting the 100% A.Vasilevskiy and the season on the line it was expected that we could easily be going back to Long Island for game 7 but P.Stastny and the BlueJackets had other ideas. Before the 8 minute mark of the first period Stastny already had a hat trick and Columbus rode those 3 goals to a 3-2 lead at the end of the first. The Isles wouldn't just go away and continued to battle to get back into this one but when Vasilevskiy let in his 4th of the game it was game over for him and the Isles season. NY played well throughout this game and you could argue they may have played better then Columbus but the only position that matters when the games are close is goaltending and Vasilevskiy picked the wrong time to have a bad night. T.Rask played well in his only start to this point stopping 30-33 shots and got this huge win for CBJ. CBJ now gets a bit of rest awaiting the winner of Habs-Sens.
Habs 0
Sens 3
With J.Binnington fatigued and up 3-2 in games the Habs used this opportunity to rest their starter but this was not at all what they were hoping for. The Sens on the other hand couldn't have scripted this game any better from their perspective, they got an early lead and limited the Habs shots on goal as to not tax Kuemper going forward. With this game playing out the way it did both teams will have a full roster and goalies at 100% for game 7 in Montreal. This competetive series was expected to go long and now will be decided the way it should be.....with both teams 100%....winner take all....let the best team win!
