Bruins Lose 4-2 on Opening Night
GM Dan Lifshatz says Bruins fans need to prepare for a long season
BOSTON, MA ------ The BRHL Boston Bruins opened up their season on Thursday night with a poor-efforted 4-2 loss to the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets, sparking comments from the Bruins GM to "get ready for a long season."
"Look, we know fans will be frustrated, and we know its going to be a bit of a process, but in the end it will all be worth it," Lifshatz said after the loss Thursday. "The coaching staff and I have spoken about this season and what we expect. We want our young players to improve so we can get to the point where we're a cup contender every year."
Lifshatz was hammered by Bruins fans and BRHL GM's alike for tearing down his roster in the middle of last season after the team was middling around the playoffs. However, there are a few who see what Lifshatz has been angling at, and understand the tearing down was necessary in a league where talent ir hoarded by a few select teams.
"Its going to be a process. I'm not promising Boston a cup this year, or next, or even the year after, but soon enough, this team will be where all the fans expect us to be, and we will be competing for cups every season."
