Sabres Roster Annouced
Sabres name a 22 man roster ahead of the waiver draft
Today the Buffalo Sabres held a press conference after practice and annouced their final roster after all the cuts at training camp. Looking at the depth chart released to the press there doesn't appear to be any surprises. Below will be your opening night rosters for the Sabres as well as their AHL affiliate Americans.
Buffalo Sabres Lines
LW C RW
Chris Kunitz Sidney Crosby Jason Pominville
Ondrej Palat Ryan Kesler Gustav Nyquist
Benoit Pouliot Vernon Fiddler David Perron
Dwight King Boyd Gordon Ryan Strome
Extra Forward: Jack Skille
LD RD
Jay Bouwmeester Alex Pietrangelo
Brooks Orpik Rasmus Ristolainen
Nikita Zadorov Alec Martinez
Extra Defender: Nate Schmidt
G
Petr Mrazek
Ondrej Pavelec
Jack Skille will once again get a good seat in the press box for the Sabres games barring any injuries. Also with that forward group, expect the linemates on the top 3 lines to switch often depending on the look coach Alan Vigneault wants. On Defence, Alec Martinez will headline on the top PP unit with Pietrangelo but otherwise will be babysitting one of Zadorov or Schmidt depending on whos dressed with him on the 3rd pairing. Expect a 50/50 split in starts between the two goaltenders as well.
Rochester Americans Lines
LW C RW
Joel Vermin Nick Cousins Riley Barber
Ivan Barbashev Kevin Sundher Riley Brace
Nate Drazenovic Justin Hodgman Marc-Andre Cliche
Thomas Raffl Matt Ellis Ruslan Fedotenko
Extra Forwards: Derek Arnold, Kale Kessy, Patrick Bordeleau, Stefan Fournier, Colton Orr
LD RD
Jan Hejda Matt Bartkowski
Jay Harrison Steve Eminger
Dylan DeMelo Jake Chelios
Extra Defenders: Daniel Maggio, Ryan Parent, Garrett Noonan, Erik Gustafsson, Chris Breen, Ben Harpur
G
Jon Gillies
Connor Knapp
Extra Goaltender: Mark Dekanich
Lots of extra forwards on the farm and nothing is set in stone yet as far as lines, this was just the teams press release but expect things to change as the season wears on. Nick Cousins will see time bouncing between Rochester and Buffalo in case of injury and Dylan DeMelo might get called up if the pro team suffers more than one injury to a Dman.
