2016 BRHL Entry Draft Re-Done
Lots of falls and risers
1st Overall – Washington Capitals(Vegas Golden Knights) – Connor McDavid
This pick is self explanatory, No need to explain
2nd Overall – Florida Panthers(New York Rangers) – Jack Eichel
This pick is self explanatory, No need to explain
3rd Overall – Anaheim Ducks – Mitch Marner
This might still be a homer pick but Marner has done nothing but impressed since coming into the league
4th Overall – Washington Capitals(Vegas Golden Knights) – Sebastian Aho
The first big jump. Aho jumps 11 spots to 4th. He has out performed a lot of guys in the draft and left a lot of GMs scratching their heads.
5th Overall – Montreal Canadiens – Ivan Provorov
The drop of one spot here is to no fault of Provorov, more to show how well Aho has played since entering the NHL.
6th Overall – Florida Panthers(New York Rangers) – Mathew Barzal
Barzal has an unreal year last year in the NHL. He is a calder candidate and a big reason for his jump on this draft board.
7th Overall – Pittsburgh Penguins - Mikko Rantanen
Rantanen has played along side Nathan MacKinnon most of his career so far. No fall or jump here.
8th Overall – Dallas Stars – Brock Boeser
Boeser has a jump from 12 to 8. Boeser could of hit 40 goals in his rookie year if not for an injury. Boeser another Calder Candidate.
9th Overall – Boston Bruins(New York Islanders) – Iyla Samsonov
Samsonov has done nothing but impress over in the KHL. He has just recently signed with the Washington Capitals of the NHL. He is likely to start the year in the AHL but will be a quick callup once he shows what he can do on the smaller ice.
10th Overall – Boston Bruins(New York Islanders) - Travis Koencey
Koencey may have dropped if not for his production in his second year. Scored 11 goals his first year and 24 goals his second year.
11th Overall – Boston Bruins(New York Islanders) – Zach Werenski
Werenski originally drafted 8th overall falls to 11. Would have had him higher but others progressed a bit more
12th Overall – Columbus Blue Jackets – Noah Hanifin
Hanifin drop is really due to the fact that everyone ahead of him here has progressed so quickly.
13th Overall – Montreal Canadiens - Thomas Chabot
Chabot in his first NHL season was sheltered a lot early on. As the season grew on so did his playing time. Look for big things from this defender. Has a lot of potential, and only reason he isn’t higher is because of Ottawa not having anyone and his limited playing time.
14th Overall – Buffalo Sabres – Kyle Connor
Connor drops from 9th to 14th. Connor cracked the deep jets lineup this year and showed us why with his 31 goals.
15th Overall – Colorado Avalanche - Anthony Beauviller
Beauviller jumps 5 spots and funny as it is, still gets drafted by Bryce’s Avalanche.
Next 15 picks to come in the days ahead!
