Devils    6

Wow!!! You have a team that has had a pretty easy run throughout the playoffs with balanced scoring and strong goaltending coming off of a road loss. The team has not lost 2 straight games this entire playoffs and they respond to the challenge by throwing 37 shots on goal on the road, stay out of the penalty box for the most part only taking 3 for the game, and didn't allow a power play goal so that seems like a pretty good recipe for success! Right? Well in this case the cook must have had the oven turned up too high because this game was anything but successful and was a complete disaster for the Flames. The enigma that is Cam Talbot resurfaced much to the dismay of GM Kevin on a night when everything went according to script and turned a pretty solid team performance into a bitterly disappointing loss. The game started well enough for the Flames and although they were outshot 14-9 and down 1-0 after 1 period were clearly in the game and had weathered the early "road game storm". The Flames came out for the second as a pretty confident group, took total control of the game and through wave after wave at the Devils and starter D. Dubnyk but despite outshooting the Devils 19-6 in the frame it was the Devils that had scored 3 more goals to Calgarys none! That was it for Cam Talbot for the night and for the Flames for that matter as there was no coming back from 4-0 down after 2 periods. The Devils managed goals from all 4 lines in this one and have to be pleased with the balance while the Bennett-Versteeg-Gaborik line had a brutal evening being a combined -9 . The lone bright spot for the Flames on this evening is it is only 1 game and following an off day Cam Talbot should be back to 100% for game 3 at home after only facing 20 shots in this one to right the ship! Devils lead finals 2-0
