Daily Recap
Devils 2
Sens 1
In sports we always talk about great performances and when those performances are coming from both sides with little to decide a winner we say "it is too bad someone has to lose". This game was one of those games as both teams pumped 32+ shots on each other, traded chances, and ultimately traded great saves! Braden Holtby stopped 35 of 37 shots faced for a .946 save % and LOST to an equally impressive 31 of 32 saves for the winner in D. Dubnyk. With so many potential storylines from so many star players the only story to be told was which goalie would crack.... and neither did! The difference in this game was special teams plain and simple as the Sens went 0 for 5 on the powerplay. The Devils however, only managed 1 goal on 4 attempts but that 1 goal turned out to be the game winner at 3:10 of the third period by Paul Stastny. Phillip Danault left this game at 14:05 of the third period and is done for the season with a arm injury to further complicate things for the Senators and the defending champs are staring at a much earlier departure in this series then expected. Devils head home for game 5 up 3-1
