Daily Recap
Devils 2
Sens 3 OT
The defending champs came into this one down 2-0 in the series and desperately needed this game to have any realistic thoughts of repeating and although it wasn't easy they got the result they were looking for. Despite throwing 44 regulation shots on the Devils goal the Sens looked headed for yet another loss trailing 2-1 but N. Zaitsev scored will a mere 11 seconds left on the clock to tie it and then Matt Duchene potted his 4th of the playoffs at the 5:40 mark of overtime on the power-play to snatch the victory. You have to wonder what might have been for the Devils had a couple of earlier injuries not have happened in this one as both defensive stalwarts Francois Beauchemin, and Mike Fisher left the game and were obviously unavailable to protect that late lead. Francois Beauchemin is expected to suit up for the next game but Mike Fisher appears to be lost for a couple of games with a knee injury. The Sens will look to even the series at home and have to be breathing a little easier after this one. Also of note in this one was the obvious fatigue of starter D. Dubnyk and whether or not GM Tim decides to give his beleagured tender an extra couple of days of rest or throw him back in at less then 100% and perhaps risk losing him for a longer stretch. Devils still up 2-1 in the series.
