Daily Recap
Flames 6 2OT
Preds 5
Lots to talk about in this high scoring affair. With goaltending being as spectactular as it has been these playoffs it has been almost a daily topic but in this case it was terrible. With a healthy R. Luongo getting the start at home boasting an 8-4 record these playoffs and a save% well above .900 it was hard to imagine him being lifted after allowing 4 goals on just 15 shots. Whats worse was that Cam Talbot wasn't nearly good enough at the other end either allowing 5 goals in regulation and giving the Preds every opportunity to steal this game away! The lone bright spot in goal on this evening was J. Howard as he stopped 18-19 shots he faced until the winner slipped by him in double overtime to finally secure the win for the Flames. This game was actually a pretty tight checking affair for a 6-5 game as the shots were 40-35 for the Preds which seems high but not when you factor in that the game went to 2 OT. GM Kevin has to be pleased to somehow steal away this road win despite his team being outplayed for much of this game being outshot 39-30 through the first overtime and his goalie well below .900 save percentage. Flames feeling pretty good after this game up 2-1 in the series!
