Rangers   2

Devils     4

In the other back and forth series to go 7 games the hometown Devils took control early and never looked back as the erupted out of the gate with 3 first period goals on 19 shots. Wayne Simmonds was a beast early on netting the first 2 goals of the game and later icing it in the 3rd for the hat trick and Curtis McElhinney made his first start of the playoffs count with a workmanlike 28 save performance for the win. With all the questions surrounding players and goalies at less then 100% the Devils decided the best defense was a good offense and when the Rangers couldn't handle the pressure the penalty parade started leading to 7 Devils power-plays. All the time spent in the box by the Rangers meant they couldn't manage to sustain any flow or pressure of their own and despite closing the deficite to 1 early in the third it was only a matter of time before the Devils ended their night and season firing another 15 third period shots on Andersen for a 3 period total of 42. Devils move on to face the Sens battered and bruised....no rest for the wicked!!!
