Daily Recap
Devils 2
Rangers 3 OT
Much like the series in the west, this series is back and forth and too close to call. After a very uneventful first period both teams came out in the second skating and traded chances and goals with the Devils scoring first but then quickly answered with 2 Rangers goals. The Devils managed to tie things up before the frame came to an end and once again being tied there was not much to choose between these two strong squads! The third period was an entirely different story however as the home side got the crowd into the game and assumed complete control outshooting the Devils 13-5 in the process but they were unable to take advantage of their strong play by netting the winner. The Devils had to feel very fortunate to get out of that third frame still tied but the didn't seem able to take advantage of the opportunity their goalie provided them as they came out flat again for overtime and were outshot 11-6 before Hampus Lindholm netted his second of the playoffs on the PP to give the Rangers a deserved win! As this series moves back to NJ there are some pretty significant issues for both teams as D. Dubnyk is completely exhausted and will NOT be ready for game 7 and the Rangers have several players at less then 100% and may not survive the grind for the game!
