Habs Lose Bobrovsky

The Habs have lost Bobrovsky for likely the duration of playoffs after goaltender undergoes sports hernia surgery.

The Habs have confirmed today that they will be without star goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky for six weeks, meaning he is most likey done for the season.

Bob left the game last night part-way through the 2nd period, and looked to be in some discomfort. Initial reports indicated only that he was suffering from abdominal pain, but today the team announced that he underwent sports hernia surgery last night. The typical recovery time for this surgery is 6 weeks.

This is a potentially devastaing blow for a team that had extremely high expectations for the postseason after posting a franchise-record 124 points in the regular season to claim the President's Trophy. At today's press conference, team management remained positive, pointing to the fact that backup Carter Hutton had a solid season, posting 6 wins in 10 starts, with a respectable 0.909 SV% and 2.48 GAA. Montreal also has Steve Mason currently in the minors as an option to replace Bob. Mason posted 38 wins in 62 starts for the IceCaps, with a 0.910 SV% and 2.63GAA - 5th and 4th overall in the minors respectively. Management has not confirmed yet who will get the start in game 4.

Another positive for the team is that both Leo Komarov and Jeff Carter will see their first playoff action in game 4, after recovering from their injuries.

Although this is a big blow for the team, spirts are still high - and they players are hopeful they can rally around this.
