BRHL All Star Mock Rosters
Recognizing players seasons so far in relation to what they have done for their team in the sim
BRHL All Star Teams
Now I know we are not actually able to sim an All Star game but I still wanted to at least go through the divisions and kind of make a mock one for fun to recognize how a lot of players have stepped up for their teams this season. So first for starters the players selected are not based off ratings, they are based off their performance and production in the actual sim so far for their BRHL team just like the NHL. Tried to follow what the NHL is doing with the All Star game this year. Instead of the traditional East vs West each division gets a team and is set to play a 3 on 3 mini tournament. Each Divisions Team consists of 6 forwards, 3 defensemen, 2 goalies and a Coach. Like I said sadly we do not have the means to actually sim these games but this is what it would look like if I were on the committee.
CENTRAL
Coach: Bruce Cassidy-CHI
Chicago has been a perennial contender for a few seasons now and is having another great season leading one of the toughest divisions in the league and Bruce is being recognized for being able to keep this team focused with their eyes on the prize so far as they are gearing up for what they hope is their chance to represent the West in the finals.
FWD: Connor McDavid-COL-C: The Avs for the most part have not lived up to the hype this season however McDavid has. Even battling with injuries he has still been able to put up 17G, 27A in 35GP so far.
FWD: Max Domi-WIN-LW: While Winnipeg has been going through a bit of a retooling year Domi has been one of the biggest surprises of the league notching 15 G, 31 A in 44 GP which actually puts him 2nd in league scoring.
FWD: Ryan OReilly-DAL-C: Ryan is having another really strong season for the Stars and is one of the few players in the league with over a Point Per Game at 20G, 22A in 39GP and is hoping to help the Stars get back to the postseason. However he is also being shopped heavily and will be a great contribution to any playoff team whether he is in Dallas or moved to another contender.
FWD: Patrice Bergeron-NSH-C: The Preds are having another strong season and Bergeron has had a lot to do with that. He has donated 17G, 28 A in 42GP to the cause so far.
FWD: David Krejci-STL-C: Even though Krejci does not have out of this world ratings with a 79 PA and SC he is actually the current league leader in points at the moment with 21G, 27A in 46GP. He is a prime example of what we wanted to showcase with these teams that it doesn’t go by ratings but what they have been able to produce in the sim.
FWD: Patrick Kane-DAL-RW: Kane is another one of those leaders for Dallas who is having another really good season. This year he has 14G, 31A in 43GP and like OReilly has been able to keep over a Point Per Game pace so far this season.
D-Erik Karlsson-STL: Karlsson is having another Norris worthy season leading the league in scoring for defensemen with 10G, 33A in 43GP.
D-Roman Josi-NSH: Josi has been the anchor for this club with 5G, 35A in 40GP and has helped put the team in a position where they are pushing Chicago for the division this season which is suiting because Josi is 2nd in league scoring from defensemen.
D-Dustin Byfuglien-CHI: This was the one exception I made, Nick Leddy deserves recognition, he has 1 more point than Big Buff in tow less games played however, Byfuglien is playing much tougher minutes and matchups for the Hawks and in my opinion is making a much bigger impact for his club and that is why he gets the invite.
G-Roberto Luongo-NSH: definitely a midseason Vezina candidate Lou is holding down the fort for the Preds again this season and is leading the league in both save percentage and GAA with a 0.928 SV% and 1.75 GAA in 40 GP so far.
G-Hendrik Lundqvist: Another awesome example of how the ratings dont just go into this. Despite the criticism Lou received prior to the start of the season he has silenced the haters so far with a 0.924SV% and 2.27GAA making him a top 5 goalie at the half way point.
PACIFIC
Coach: Peter DeBoer
The Ducks are truly having a Cinderella season so far and making the most of their opportunity with the window they have been given in the Pacific. DeBoer buckled down on the team and has given them a true underdog motivation which has the Ducks currently sitting 2nd in the Pacific instead of the team being what was expected to be a top 6 pick at the draft.
FWD: Mitch Marner-ANH-RW: Marner has stepped in the league as a rookie this season and has been one of two players who seem to have put the rest of the team on their back for the Ducks underdog run. He has put up a league leading 23G and added 22A in 43GP and is the early favorite for the Calder.
FWD: Daniel Sedin-ANH-LW: Sedin has proved he still has lots in the tank and has stepped into a great mentoring role for Marner this season. He has 16G and 15A in 43GP.
FWD: Patrick Laine-LA-LW/RW: Another rookie and expected Calder nominee, Laine has lead the way for the Kings up front this season as they continue to fight for one of the Pacific playoff spots. He has tallied 16G and 16A in 42GP.
FWD: Evgeny Kuznetsov-LA-C: Kuznetsov has settled into a real playmaker role for the Kings this year with 9G, 23A in 41GP. He has also been a big contributing factor to the rookie Laine’s development.
FWD: NUUUUGGGEE aka RNH aka Ryan Nugent-Hopkins-ARZ-C: Nuge has been really good for the Coyotes this year with 18G, 21A in 43GP. As the organization builds towards next year they have to hope that with what looks like a good rerate for him next year will also translate and arry over his good production in the sim this year.
FWD: Sam Reinhart-ARZ-C/RW: Sam has been one of the few to be able to keep above a point per game production with 16G, 27A in 41GP. He is the driving force up front another bright spot for this organization up front that they hope they can build around moving forward.
D-Seth Jones-LA: Probably the most important player for the Kings so far he is actually leading the team in scoring with 8G, 26A in 42GP and is one of the core pieces for an emerging Kings team in the West.
D-Anton Stralman-MIN: The Wild are having another tough season as they are gearing up for the draft but Stralman is having an excellent season so far and with not much help around him and is leading the team with 8G, 24A in 40GP and is leading the team in scoring. The numbers he has been able to put up without the supporting cast earned him a spot on the All Star team for the division.
D-Duncan Keith-CGY: Even though the Flames are having a down season and struggling to get production from their top players Keith has been able to hold the blueline in check and is leading the team with 4G, 25A in 41GP and is doing his best to stop the bleeding and keep the Pacific favorites at the top of the division.
G-John Gibson-ANH: If the Ducks can hold on and earn a spot in the playoffs and even win a round I would expect to see Gibson on the ballot of MVP and Vezina at the end of the season. He has been the most important player for the Ducks with a 0.926SV% and 2.33GAA in 35GP. It is even more impressive when you consider the supporting cast and top defensemen Johnny Oduya has been out all season with injury only playing 8 games.
G-Martin Jones: Jones was acquired this offseason and the organization is hoping they now have solidified their goaltending and can focus on other areas moving forward. Jones has been able to give them confidence so far with his play this season 0.918SV% and 2.70GAA.
METROPOLITAN
COACH: Dan Bylsma-NYR
The Rangers came into the season very good on paper and not a surprise they are in a playoff position but many did not see them having such a great first half so far much leading the very competitive Metro Division.
FWD: Brad Marchand-NYI-LW: Marchand was one of the players who were expected to be a driving force for the on paper favorite Islanders to start the season and so far he has delivered. In 41 games he has posted 21 G and 21 A. Making him 2nd in the league for goals.
FWD: Jack Eichel-NYI-C: Like Marchand Jack was another forward expected to lead the way for offence and so far is keeping up his end with 19G, 19A in 43GP. The production up front seems to have a noticeable drop after these two and that is why they both have been picked, to recognize how they are carrying the offence for the Isles.
FWD: Cam Atkinson-NYR-RW: Atkinson has been by far the best players for the Rangers and really is carrying them offensively, the next closest forward for points on the team is Kevin Hayes with 28 points. (NO I’m not counting Pastrnak or Koivu because they have only played 1 game for the Rangers since being acquired via trade earlier in the week). His team leading 19G, 21A in 42 GP has been a huge difference maker and he has been one of the biggest factors to the Rangers success up to this point.
FWD: Mike Fisher-NJD-C: With Fisher retiring this will be his last season with rates and therefor his last season in the BRHL before he retires and he is having a hell of a send off. He has 18G, 23A in 41GP and is helping the Devils both on the ice and in the locker room for one last push at Lord Stanley. It would only be fitting that he also qualifies for the All Star game here and is a nice parting gift to a player who has helped so many in the sim over they years.
FWD: Paul Stastny-NJD-C: Stastny is having a stellar season so far with 14G, 27A in 36GP making him another one of the few guys at over a point per game pace this season. The Devils top two centers both get showcased here and have been one of the better one two punches in the league this season.
FWD: Tyler Johnson-CAR-C: Johnson was required earlier in the season and has been probably the biggest difference maker for the Canes and their latest run which has put them right back on the doorstep for the playoffs. He has 17G, 22A in 39GP and the next closest forward has 10 points less in 3 more games played. The Canes will be leaning on him to keep up the offence and get them back in the playoff picture.
D-Victor Hedman-NYI: Hedman has been the anchor for the Islanders this year chipping in 2G, 30A in 41GP.
D-Johnny Boychuk-CAR: probably the Canes best player after Allen, he is 2nd on the team in points with 10G, 25A in 42GP and 4th in defensemen points for the league. With the Canes struggling to get offense outside of Johnson up front Boychuk will be counted on more and more down the stretch to continue to help pick up the slack.
D-Alex Goligoski-NJD: Goligoski is another Dman who has top 10 points in the league for defensemen with 8G, 24A in 37GP. He has been a quarterback for the Devils PP with 16 of those points coming with the man advantage.
G-Frederic Anderson-NYR: has been solid for the Rangers and a huge reason they are leading the division. In fact he has been a top 5 goalie in the league so after posting a 0.924SV% and 2.11GAA.
G-Robin Lehner-NYI: Yes Lehner was playing a backup role for the most part behind Crawford most of the season and now is fighting for the starting role with Tuukka Rask but he has played a large enough sample size of 21 games and still held up a 0.927SV% and 2.04GAA that he gets the nod for this All Star team because none of the other starters in the division have really stepped up much above 0.900SV% and Lehner has made the most of his opportunities and very well may win the starteing job for the rest of the season with the Isles.
ATLANTIC
COACH:Gerald Gallant-MTL
In a division with the teams like the defending champs and the Red Wings with thier un worldly start Gerald was able to keep the team focused and tightened up there game and have clawed and scraped their way to the top of the Atlantic division and are holding it strong for now.
FWD: Jeff Skinner-MTL-LW: Skinner has had a very good start to the season keeping a point per game pace with 20G, 22A in 42GP for a Montreal team that has been very good up front.
FWD: Martin Hanzal-MTL-C: Hanzal is having one of the best years in the BRHL. He is right towards the top of the scoring charts and probably the only reason he is not the league leader at this point is because he has only played 34 games but still been able to produce 19G and 26A.
FWD: Tomas Tatar-MTL-RW/LW: The third forward from the Canadiens selected for the All Star team really does reflect on the season they are having and no wonder why they are leading the Atlantic at the half way point. Tatar has 14G, 26A in 42GP.
FWD: Steven Stamkos-DET-C: Detroit had one of the best starts to the season we have ever seen in the BRHL and even though they have fallen back to Earth they are still right towards the top of the East and Stamkos has led the way for them with 18G, 26A in 41GP.
FWD: John Tavares-OTT-C: Ottowa has been a perennial contender for years and they have always been able to rely on their top C Tavares to produce and in what look like a good but bit of a down year for the club, Tavares is still pulling his weight with 15G, 24A in only 37GP and helping keep the Sens in a playoff spot.
FWD: Kyle Okposo-FLA-RW: It has been a disappointing season for the Panthers in GM Rexs final season as GM before he takes over an expansion club. The team has struggled to produce this season despite getting adequate goaltending and Okposo has lead the forwards offensively with 18G, 20A in 44GP as the team tries the fight their way into a wild card spot.
D-Oliver Ekman-Larsson-OTT: Larsson has been the Sens best defensemen this season and is contributing in a big way offensively with 12G, 21A in 42GP and is 6th in league scoring for defensemen.
D-Brent Burns-FLA: Burns was a big free agent pick up in the off season and on a team where everyone else seems to be a letdown Burns has lived up to the contract and is leading the team offensively with 13G, 26A in 44GP.
D-She Weber-DET: We have already talked about the Wings great first half of the season and here is where their best Dman gets the final spot for the Atlantic All Star team. He has had some injury issues and it has shown when he is not in the lineup. He plays every role from top pairing to PK, to PP and has tallied 9G, 19A in 36GP so far.
G-Sergei Bobrovsky: Bobs was the best rated goalie on paper coming into the season and it is only fitting that he has been able to put up top 5 goalie numbers and help the Canadiens be so successful this season. He is boasting a 0.924SV% and a 2.11GAA in 36GP.
G-Andrei Vailevskiy: One of the NHL budding stars Vasilevskiy is making the case he is one of the league top assets for what he brings and the price he brings it at. He has helped the Bruins stay in the playoff hunt with a 0.915SV% AND 2.59GAA. Even if the Bruins come up short and miss the playoffs they have an excellent young asset who is trending to be one of the top rated goalies next season.
Hope you guys enjoyed this mock and if any of you feel a different player from your team should of made it over someone else feel free to post below. Like I said this was an opinion piece based on what the players have done in relation to the sim in the BRHL this season.
