Continuing Part 2 in the Series: The West

Top 5 Overrated in the West:

1.       Avalanche

God. What an absolute shocker ehh?  Bryce makes a good team, team starts well, team fades, Bryce all the sudden becomes veryyyyyyyy quiet about his team, can’t make podcasts, etc.  The Shucks are all the same.  In a shocking turn of events the Avalanche started well, and have since faded.  Since acquiring Cam Talbot, Bryce’s Avs are a whopping 2-2, with one of those wins over Mika’s Wild.  Not exactly an impressive display.  We all know how this plays out.  A month from now Bryce packs it in, trades off his pieces, likely trade rapes Rex in a ridiculous trade where he gets amazing assets for the next season, justifies it somehow for Cam Talbot, and the world goes round.   I don’t know why but whenever Bryce puts together a team, it fails.  I’m sure this will make him mad, but whatever.  At least he’s an okay commish!

Suggested Adds: Be Better

2.       Stars

Sorry Junya.  I was wrong about your team.  I honestly thought adding Patty Kane would help you a good amount, but without a legit goalie, you’ll be in the same place as you were last season.  In fact, if you were in the East, you and Billy would be the same, except you actually make the playoffs.  The Stars have a very talented roster but until there is a legit goalie in place, Junya’s team is spinning its wheels.  The Stars can’t be considered a legit cup contender until that happens.

Suggested Adds: Goalie Upgrade

3.       Blackhawks

Dave’s team isn’t all that different than Junya’s except he has more depth.  I wonder when some of these guys who happen to be pretty good GM’s, will get it.  You need a good goalie.  If you remember I heavily criticized Dave for trading for Hank Lundqvist before the season, but don’t get me wrong,  I am not surprised how Dave’s team is doing in the standings.  The Hawks will roll through the regular season, get to the playoffs, and lose.  Now maybe the Hawks can actually make the Cup this year because the West is sooooooo weak, but he will get plowed in the finals.  You need to get a real goalie Dave. A real one.

Suggested Adds: Upgrade your goalie

4.       Ducks

I have a feeling this is going to be a team that qualifies for both.  Devon’s team isn’t very good, but it isn’t awful either.  I’m surprised that Devon is looking to rebuild again.  At this point he’s banking on his 10 or 11 pick getting in the top 2-3, and that’s prob not gonna happen.  I personally think he should go for it and make the playoffs.  Hell he owes it to his fans!!!  Go for it Devon.  You already have that Sharks pick in hand anyways.  Keep improving that roster and pick off guys who need to move players before expansion.

Suggested Adds: Everywhere but goalie

5.       Flames

Ugghh. I really wanted to put Rumpy here, but shit happens.  Kev’s Flames are so schizophrenic its very strange.  He has a legit roster and 2 decent goalies, and still can’t get a solid win streak.  He added Getzlaf last week so maybe that sets him on the road to redemption, but until he strings together some W’s, I can’t trust his Flames.  He needs to upgrade some of his forwards and could prob use an upgrade over Oullet, but my biggest suggestion would be to trade Anderson and get Kinkaid.

Suggested Adds: Goalie Upgrade to Open up cap, Get 3^rd line F’s, Bottom 6 D Upgrade

Top 5 Underrated in the West:

1.       Predators

I think it’s funny how much Ty hates me.  He really does too.  Its comical.  So putting him here isn’t exactly my favorite thing to do, but I’ll be honest about the ratings so, here he is.  Ty has a very solid base of players and his defensive core is very strong.  It’s the real reason he’s been so successful the past few season.  Of course this season his team took a big dip in some of their rates, but they are still very solid.  I think, with a few additions, the Preds could legitimately challenge for the West, but that would mean Ty would actually have to make some moves.  We’ll see.

Suggested Adds: Top 6 center, Backup Goalie Upgrade, Another Legit Scorer

2.       Blues

Eric and Ty back to back.  Fuck me.  Eric is constantly on ICQ talking about how great his team.  Truth is, it’s really not.  In the East, Eric would be a borderline playoff team.  However, the amount of respect his Blues get out West is damn low.  I actually think he has the best team in the West, and eventually wins the Western Conference, which in my opinion just isn’t that impressive, especially this year.  The Blue’s major weakness coming up will be goal scoring, so Eric will prob trade another 1^st round pick and trade for Jeff Carter cause, again, Bryce will eventually sell.  Keep on pounding how good your team is, Eric.

Suggested Adds: Top 6 goal scorer

3.       Kings

Ty, then Eric, now Rumpy.  I must hate myself today.  Rumpy’s Kings are an extremely talented bunch.  He might’ve had the best roster in the West if he wasn’t a complete dumbass and traded Bobrovsky for a guy who likely won’t ever be a top 6 forward.  However, since Rumpy traded a shitload (way overpaid) for Ben Bishop, his team has been MUCH better.  He’s 6-3 since adding Bishop, and could potentially, be a serious contender in the playoffs.  If Rumpy isn’t himself, and doesn’t trade a shitload for a guy like Lucic, and actually goes out to add a bit of talent, he can challenge the top teams in the West during the playoff stretch.

Suggested Adds: Two Top 6 Scorers

4.       Ducks

Here we are Devon.  Told ya.  Well, I am going to put you here because, in full, the West sucks more dick than Rumpy’s tranny he banged.  I think the Ducks have a legit chance to make the playoffs this year.  Why?  Well Bryce will sell off, Rumpy will ultimately do something stupid, and the rest of your division outside of the Flames (maybe?) is soooooooooo bad, its horrendous.  You should make that 2 or 3 seed in your division.  I would add small bit parts for cheap.  There are guys who are gonna have to move players before expansion (Talking to you Ryan), and guys will be available.  I think you’ll be able to add guys on the cheap.  I would stay middle and be open to all sorts of deals. Don’t sell yet!

5.       Jets

Jordan, I am going to be honest here.  The only reason you are in this slot is because there is literally no one else to put here. Honestly.  The Jets aren’t a god awful team, but they are far from good.  Jordan is a fun drunk but his strategy for his team confuses me.  He has the highest prices maybe ever, but has also made some very good trades as of late.  He almost always gets his asking price, and you have to commend him for that.  However, his team sucks and Price is the ONLY reason he will win.  Question is whether he will win enough for the Jets to get in the playoffs in that awful conference.  He legitimately might be depending on what the Ducks do, or don’t do.  I suggest not adding much, unless it’s a robbery.  You’re not gonna win this year.
