Now several days in lets review where the league is at with the good, bad and ugly.

The good:

·      Kirk found a bargain for 3^rd – 4^th lines with Boyle at 1.499 mil. Decent offensive ability  on a one year deal as Kirk goes for repeat.

·      Kevin Bieksa to Van at 2mil. Though aged and on downslope, is is a quality 4-6 dman that can contribute on PK with solid ck and def ability.  Good signing.

·      Joel Ward at 1.3mil for 3 years. Joel had a “down” offensive season, but if finds any more offense this deal will be a bargain.

The bad:

·      Flyers and Giroux at 5 years and 12 million. Wow! I like Giroux and at 6-8mil would love. But 12 mil per year that money should be reserved for guys named Sid, Connor, Ovi, Auston, Jack and very few others. The flyers will be buying out this deal eventually as severely hamstrings their cap for years to come.

·      Mike Fisher for 6.9 million for 3 years. He will be retired on the back end of this deal, but a lot of money and SB (9.5mil) for a 2^nd line center.

·      Bruins and Richardson – 5mil with 2mil SB. “Rebuilding” but not Dan has spent his cash as he said he would. But 5mil on a 3-4^th liner. Only a one year deal but still way too much for Richardson.

·      Budaj and Pitts – 8mil per for one year and 4 mil sb. In no world or dimension does Budaj deserve this deal. It is a sim league, but assuredly his lack of experience will be a detriment in the sim? A career back up and 8mil. Wow!

·      Mikko Koivu at 12mil with 6mil sb. Just egregious money. Was identified for his solid all around rates, but again this is money for star players. On the plus side, one year deal only.

The ugly:

·      Sorry Tyler, but Meier only return for the Vezina winner on a 5 year and good value deal. This deal was excellent value for the Habs and ugly for the Kings. To make it worse his replacement is Neimi. Ugggh.
