BRHL EXPANSION

In anticipation of the NHL Expanding into Vegas, we will be expanding too in the summer of 2018 (1 year behind NHL to correspond with ratings), so teams have plenty of time to plan accordingly. The base of the rules are below, anything we need to add/address we will do so when it comes up.

1. Players 20 and under exempt

2. ROOKIES (first time with ratings) are exempt

3. Prospects Exempt

4. Teams can protect 1 goalie, 4 dmen, 9 forwards. No variations

5. Teams can lose a MAX of 5 players

6. Vegas takes 40 players in total

7. Players who are pending UFA and RFA need to be protected if you want their rights. Otherwise the Vegas franchise can claim a guy who is UFA in a few weeks and THEY would have loyalty (this cannot be traded to another team).

8. Team will get the standard 10m to start with, plus whatever else they have earned on the side leading up.

9. We would slot them in as the #1 seed in the first draft they are in (pre-lottery) so the odds are highest. Since the NHL Vegas team will have played their first game, we would have 15 lottery teams, just like the NHL, so our odds line up perfectly. So the team that finishes worst in the 17-18 BRHL season will only have the second highest odds.

10. Because we have no cap floor, etc. There is no reason for us to have any financial restrictions on players claimed.
