Bruins Wrap Up Pre-Draft Deals

After Bradyon Coburn Trade, Bruins Seemingly Done for Now

BOSTON, MA ------ Bruins GM Dan Lifshatz stated, barring any unexpected offers, that the Bruins we're done dealing until the draft in a few weeks. The team has been extremely busy this offseason, making 16 seperate deals, in a effort to re-vamp the roster after suffering from conference mediocity in Lifshatz's first full season as GM.

"It was time to change this roster. We had a bunch od great players last year, Henrik (Sedin), Patty (Kane), Nick (Foligno), but we just couldn't compete with some of the other teams. We decided it was time to re-build the roster, and we certainly have. Obviously if you take a look at the roster, its completely different. We have very few of the same players. We had to make some really tough decisions, but we're happy with how things have worked out, and we have a big weekend coming up in a few weeks."

Lifshatz has been busy, moving off the likes of Kyle Palmieri, Jonathan Bernier, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, and of course guys like Boone Jenner who were acquired for some of those pieces. The roster still has some top tier talent on it with Nikita Kucherov and Jonathan Huberdeau, while adding some elite young talent like Jimmy Vesey of Harvard University. However, it looks like with the deal of defenseman Bradyon Coburn the trading will cease, until the BRHL draft rolls around in a few weeks.

"We have a lot of picks, a lot of fire power. I think we have something like 8 of the top 50 picks, incluidng four 1st rounders. We're open to moves all weekend, but it will certainly be an exciting one for the team. To be honest, its both exciting and nerve-wracking. This draft will likely define the team for the next 4-5 years, so we have a lot of work to do in the next few weeks to make sure we do what is right for out team going forward. But to say I am excited would be an understatement."

Lifshatz continued saying that he would be open to moving up or down on draft day but that he didn't see himself moving 9, 10, or 13 without a crazy offer. He did say they would be open to moving up or down from 19 and possibly some of his 2nd round picks if he got some offers he liked or if some of his players were off the board.

"We've put so much work in the past few weeks in regards to making deals, it will be nice to turn our attention to the draft. Can't wait for some draft day excitement. This is what its all about!"

Lifshatz and the Bruins are armed with pick numbers 9, 10, 13, 19, 40, 44, 49, and 50 in the upcoming BRHL draft which has been touted as one of the best drafts in recent history, so expect to see a few more moves from Lifshatz during draft day.
