Flyers fined
Violating Spirit of Competition etc.
The league has announced that invoking the indicated clauses from the rule book (at bottom) from the rulebook, the Flyers organization has been fined their Ari 4th pick in the upcoming entry draft. That pick will now be skipped over.
This is for violating the spirit of competition, outside of something we have seen, or documented before. Blatantly tanking a game, simply to benefit 1 opposite GM over another is not what this league is about. There is a big difference between tanking for your teams draft position, and blatantly trying to manipulate a games outcome. Given the line structure, specifically forwards on D on the PK etc. There is no doubt, this was an obvious attempt to get a desired result.
While we don’t like to get involved in how teams structure their lines, there is a CLEAR difference between resting guys not at, or even at 100cd, and trying to influence a hotly contested race.
Why this fine? We feel a simple monetary fine is not enough, it doesn’t fit the crime. With multiple teams affected, there is no way to adjust an outcome, or future outcomes to try and match or make up for the outcome, it simply isn’t plausible within the sim.
Rules cited in the decision.
5) It is understood prior to joining by all GMs that;
a. Due to an ultra-competitive atmosphere, there will be times when things fall in the grey areas. At those times the commish office will consult with necessary parties if they deem it necessary, but ultimately either Eric or Bryce has the hammer to make immediate and non-disputable decisions.
d. Any attempt to circumvent the SPIRIT of the rules and fair play will result in disciplinary action handed out by the commishes office, which may includes fines, penalties, or termination.
f. The commish office has final say on all matters; we have built up close to 30 years of sim hockey experience as commish’s. We know how to run things, and have proven that our leagues are here for the long haul. GMs are to act and plan accordingly. “This is not a democracy”
