Bruins Make Blockbuster Move, Send Marchand, Murphy to Florida
Marchand sent to Florida for Reinhart
BOSTON, MA -------- Bruins GM Dan Lifshatz has been surrounded by trade rumors regardging both Brad Marchand and Connor Murphy for the past few weeks, and finally on Tuesday, it all came to a head.
The Bruins dealt Marchand, Murphy, the 2017 New Jersey 1st round pick, and $2 million in cash to the Florida Panthers for young foward Sam Reinhart, defenseman Calvin De Haan, and the 2017 Washington Capitals 2nd round pick, signaling the end of Marchands Bruin tenure in just less than a year.
"We explained to Brad when we acquired him that his stay may be short lived. He understood and accepted that. We want to thank Brad for his professionalism and hard-work ethic while here," Lifshatz said. "Connor was a valuable member of our D-Core and will be missed. We want to thank both Connor and Brad for everything they have done for the Bruins organization."
The Bruins continue to get younger on the roster, adding Reinhart to the team. The winger currently has 13 goals and 12 assists for the Panthers this season, but has struggled to help the club to a winning record. With the Bruins currently in last place, Reinhart will likely take the center spot on the bottom line , with Oscar Lindberg moving over to the left, accoridng to team officials.
"Its a big deal, but its one that makes our future brighter! We cannot wait to see what Calvin and Sam bring to the club!"
