New GM breaks silence; Shares teams new direction

Chara, Hartnell, Wisniewski, Ribiero on the block

It took a couple of days, but new Tampa Bay general manager Eric Ferraro took to the media for the first time. On the agenda was discussing the direction the team would be heading. Currently sitting outside the playoffs, it was a wise decision today when Eric Ferraro took to the mic to discuss the Lightning's future. "We will start the rebuild". That's all it took for everyone to start speculating on who was first to go. At one point, Patrick Kane's name was mentioned. "He's off the table, how stupid would I have to be to make my first deal about Patrick Kane". A sigh of relief could be heard in the crowd, but most of them knew that Zdeno Chara's fate was sealed.

"We are looking to move Chara.. yes", he responded. "We are also looking at options for players such as Scott Hartnell, Mike Ribiero, James Wisniewski and Matt Beleskey". These players are on expiring deals, which makes sense to want to move them out first. Chara's name has come up a lot already, even before Eric Ferraro broke his silence.

For the season, Scott Hartnell is struggling early on with only 13 points on the season. He was dealt from the Colorado Avalanche, to the Lightning not to long ago. He has since played better in a Tampa Bay uniform, encouraging for any team looking to add him to their roster.

James Wisniewski has really been the star this season on the backend. While players like Chara bring their grit and leadership, James Wisniewski is the center of the offense on the backend. Currently with a stat line of 10-23-33 in 56 games, Wisniewski can be a nice piece to a team on the Power Play.

It will be interesting to see what Eric Ferraro's first deal is. 'Popping his cherry' was first on the agenda, taking Dan's virginity is next.
