10 Crazy Predictions for the 2016-2017 Season - Revisited

Who will win the Hart? Who will win the Cup? Who will quit the league? - Will I be correct on any of my predictions?

1. Not a single Hansford or Shuck will make the playoffs. As of today, both Hansfords and all three Shucks are sitting on the outside looking in. Is it possible thta none of these 5 teams make the playoffs?

Current Status: Still Possible

As of this moment, the Jets, Avs and Leafs are all on the outside looking in. The Flyers and Senators only barely hanging onto playoff spots.

2. We will never get another podcast. Our "Master 'caster" has gone silent of late. With such a terrible team, has Dan lost interest in the league already? Maybe his gambling addiction is too much of a distraction? Either way, I also expect Dan to threaten to quit at least 2 times and actually quit once (but be coaxed back).

Current Status: Fail

The podcasts are back, although somewhat intermitent. To my knowledge Dan hasn't threatened to quit recently either.

3. Carey Price will win the Vezina, with rediculous numbers. Undoubtedly the best goalie in the world, the only question mark this season for Price is whether or not he can stay healthy. Coyotes mangement will focus on managing his workload and will keep him healthy all season, alowing him to win the Veizna. Unfortunately, the joy will be short-lived as he'll go down on a long-term injury in the first round of the playoffs.

Current Status: Fail

I was correct about Price's workload being managed carefully, having played only 24 gamess (or has he been injured?) Either way, his stats have been mediocre this season.

4. Connor McDavid will win the scoring title and will clean up the BRHL awards. Similar to Price, the main issue with McDavid is his health. Washington will manage his minutes and will allow him to win the Calder, Hart, Art Ross and Rocket Richard trophies.

Current Status: Still Possible

McDavid is near the top of the league in points and leads for goals. He will win the calder and probably the Rocket Richard. The Art Ross and Hart will be tougher. He has missed a few games to injury.

5. Neither the Rangers, nor the Ducks will win a single game in regulation. In what will become the most ludicrous tank-job ever, both the Ducks and Rangers will somehow manage to not win a single game in regulation, prompting the BRHL to implement new rules to guard against this rediculousness.

Current Status: Fail

No doubt, these teams are gawd awful, but they have somehow managed to win a couple games anyway.

6. Bryce will throw in the towel and sell off before Christmas, and will somehow manage to win several deals thus completing his 1-year rebuild.  Bryce has been quoted as saying that he will sell if he's not in playoff contention. The question really is when will it happen, and how much can he get for his rentals.

Current Status: Correct

Probably the easiest prediction. He has sold off, and did so before Christmas. He's won a few deals along the way too...

7. The Stars will fall. Despite a self-proclaimed dominant preseason and good start, the over-confident Stars will stumble through the first half of the season, try to imrove before the deadline, squeak into the playoffs, and lose in the first round. The Stars GM will be heard making excusues about injuries or bad refereeing, but everyone else will know it was his goaltending all along.

Current Status: Still Possible

Stars have keep playing well, so I likely won't be correct about this one, but if I am right about a first-round loss, I will call this a success.

8. We will make it through the entire season without having a single GM leave (except Dan, who will come crawling back). After an offseason with more activity than I have ever seen it is clear that this group of GMs is the best we've ever had. No reason to expect anyone will leave.

Current Status: Fail

WIth the recent departure of Joe B (the "good" Joe), I fail this one... Still loving the high level of activity.

9. The bottom 3 teams from last season will all make the playoffs this year. The bottom 3 from last year (Washington, Pittsburgh and Montreal) are all much improved, with the Canadiens currently looking like the biggest season-to-season improvement. It is a real possibility that all three of these teams could make the playoffs.

Current Status: Still Likely

The Habs and Caps are among the top teams in the East, and will most likely make the playoffs. The Penguins are fighting for thet final spot in the East, and are expected to make a few deals to try to strengthen their changes of getting into the postseason.

10. The Islanders will Win the Cup. The city, finally released from it's previous under-performing GM will go on to win the Cup. Meanwhile, the Blues will miss the playoffs...

Current Status: Still Possible

The Blues suck. They need a new GM. They will miss the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Isles, with another new GM will easily make the playoffs and have a legitimate shot at the cup.

awesome yet again Steve!
