Islanders name new GM
Linke has big shoes to fill
My name is Larry Linke and I am the new GM of the New York Islanders. I want to thank Bryce for the opportunity to join this league. I was a long time member of the Internet Hockey League which just folded in the middle of its 15th year. I was able to make it to the Stanley Cup finals but was never able to win it all. My philosphy is that I like winning and don't like to rebuild.
Personally I was in law enforcement in New Jersey for 26 years and spent 17 of those years in criminal invest. I retired to Florida in 2007. I have been a Rangers fan since 8th grade (1973) and go back to the GAG line (Jean Ratelle, Vic Hatfield and Rod Gilbert). In September I was blessed with not one, not two but triplets as grandchildren who live in Knoxville, Tennessee. Unfortunately they will be Penguin fans and I blame their grandmother for that.
I play SIM football and am a member of FanGM.com/AFFL as the GM of the Minnesota Vikings. I also play SIM baseball in the Diamond Mind Baseball Organization (dmbo.us) and am the GM of the Arizona Diamondbacks. I go to over 100 baseball games a year and have season tickets to the Lakeland Flying Tigers. My wife and I have housed four baseball players over the years (what a great experience).
Luckily I have a couple of weeks to get my feet wet prior to the trade deadline. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
