Devils extend 4 RFAs
Simmonds signs for 5 years
While New Jersey Devils' forward Wayne Simmonds was at the BRHL2 All-Star weekend winning the shootout competition (as well as the NHL All-Star MVP), he also found time to agree on a 5-year, $5.366M per season extension to his contract.
The club and league announced his signing and three others this morning. Simmonds deal also comes with a $2.981M signing bonus. "Simmer" is second on the team in points this season with 46 (22g-24a). The gritty first-line winger also has accommulated 116 PIMS this season in the first 51 games.
Also signing the dotted line this weekend was Boone Jenner. Jenner adds three years at $2.89M a season to his contract. A $900K signing bonus got the deal done. Jenner has chipped in with 12 goals and 9 assists this season.
Both Simmonds and Jenner where picked up during the offseason in seperate trades.
Rounding out the RFA signings were Colin Miller at $825k per season for 4 years ($1.1M bonus), and Brad Hunt signs for 5 years at the rate of $500K per year.
The Devils currently lead the Eastern Conference and play host to the Calgary Flames tomorrow night.
