Early BRHL2 mock draft 2017

Early BRHL2 Mock Draft for 2016 pending lottery:
Several teams are all in on tank with perhaps the most impressive tanking in history. But with three lottery picks, Anaheim is not guaranteed one of the big two. Based on standings as of 15/1/17.
1. Ducks – Auston Matthews – All around talent. Equal goal scorer thus far to Laine despite not having experienced linemates.
2. Bruins – Patrick Laine – best sniper in draft since ovechkin. Elite.
3. Rangers – Matthew Tkachuk – first mover up the board is climbing rookie pt list in NHL. Gritty.
4. BJ – Pulujarvi – Pro ready, but is it BRHL or the minors. Has clear top line upside
5. Avs – Chychrun – how do you build a team? Elite defense. Chyrchrun dropped in NHL draft as many felt he didn’t have the mind for the game. Chychrun is proving them wrong
6. Rags via Panthers – Alex Nylander – great WJC and solid AHL start to career. Ready for BRHL minors and may get a pro cup of coffee this year. Making true gains.
7. Wild – Charlie McAvoy – Tremendous NCAA start to career and top line WJC. Could he be the mover of the draft? Might be taken earlier.
8. Jets – Tyson Jost – If present at my position I will take. Love his story and character. Love how hard works and how well has started in NCAA. Few years away and going to a rebuilding Avs in NHL. Dubois, Keller strong considerations.
9. Kings – Alex Sergachyev – Many felt was top dman in draft last year and Tyler happy sitting there. With two lottery picks, Tyler is hoping his number is pulled and moves up.
10. Kings via Blues – Clayton Keller – pure skill. Tiny frame.
11. Maple Leafs – Olli Juolevi – Garrett will take BPA and runs to podium for top 5 NHL pick. Could be Dubois but many not impressed with poor start to Q year and WJC output.
12. Sharks via Sens – Pierre Luc Dubois – draft big faller in first round. Many felt was reach at 3 but to fall to 12?
13. Flames via Lightning – Luke Kunin – always BPA for Kevin and with multiple picks won’t change in this draft. Strong WJC
14. Wings via Oilers – Logan Brown – beast of a forward is a project but developing nicely. Being left of WJC team for “politics” was disappointing.
15. Flames via Pens – Dante Fabbro – solid defenseman developing nicely and decent WJC
16. Sabres – Julien Gauthier – started slow at WJC but picked up last several games. Plays a big game with soft hands.
17. Habs via Flyers – Tage Thompson – one of draft movers after strong NCAA start to season and good WJC.
18. Nucks – Sam Steel – late cut from WJC is showing strong offensive skills in WHL. Someone will fall in love with his numbers.
19. Sabres via Coyotes – Henrik Borgstrom – NCAA center plays good two way game.
20. Preds – Janne Kuokkanen – some might be surprised I have this high. Has been playing exceptionally strong for a “depleted” Knights team. Could be a steal at 20.
21. Kings via Sharks – Jake Bean – two way dman drops some in BRHL draft given improved play of other vs him.
22. Flames – Michael Mcleod – draft dropper has been solid, not elite but good value at 22.
23. Caps – Kieffer Bellows – like his old man good hands. Question is does he lie on the ice like a Broad like him?
24. Kings via Isles – Yeegor Korshkov – with his last pick, Tyler can swing for the fences. Overager having strong KHL season. Plays big, is big and skates well.
25. Avs via the Wings – Carl Grundstrom - Bryce will scour his WJC scouting and pull a mover with this pick; strong WJC, strong SHL season and Leaf prospect are always hot commodities. Enough for him to draft?
26. Habs via Canes - German Rubtsov – Russian enigma solid if not spectacular
27. Flames via Habs – Logan Stanley – beast of NHL project dman skates well for man of his size. Given number of prospects Kevin has of high level, he can risk a developmental project at pick 27
28. Bruins via Devs – Max Jones – gritty two way forward stepping forward offensively for Knights of OHL with 1.5 pts per game so far.
29. Pens via Stars – Brett Howden – Solid WHL season with strong all around game
30. Habs via Hawks – Rasmus Asplund – strong SHL season with 12 points at time of writing. Point per game in WJC. Would be surprised if didn’t get taken in first round.
HM: Trent Frederic – not a horrible start to NCAA season but stronger starts from others sees fall our of first round.
Risers: Korshkov, Grundstrom Asplund, Kuokkanen
Out of first round – Dennis Cholowski, Riley Tufte, Lucas Johansen, Trent Frederic
